STS Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Groundbreaking Ceremony for a newly constructed 80,000 square foot facility which will be located at 300 Wade Road in St. Clair took place on August 11, 2020 .
The new administrative and maintenance facility will provide indoor-covered storage, modern maintenance bays and equipment along with much more needed administration space. It will also provide Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling for the STS system which will replace the current outdated and undersized facility in the St. Clair Industrial Park. The project is funded by federal, state and local financing.
“SCTA’s objective is to enhance their ability to maintain a world-class transit system that would be able to service Schuylkill County with distinction and continue to sustain services that are safe, dependable and cost-effective,” said Mr. Dave Bekisz, Executive Director of STS.







Orwigsburg Fire Dept and STS CNG Vehicles
On Thursday evening, October 17th, members of the Orwigsburg Fire Department were able to learn about the Schuylkill Transportation System’s CNG buses, their safety features as well as other important aspects of their operation.
Sam Detweiler, STS Maintenance Director, drove one of the CNG buses to the fire department in Orwigsburg and was able to demonstrate to the group the various parts of equipment and safety components of a CNG vehicle.
STS will begin servicing the borough of Orwigsburg on the #80 Southern Loop which is scheduled to start running on November 4th.
