
Schuylkill Transportation System is pleased to announce the appointment of Krista Ripley as the new Executive Director of the organization. She will be taking over the new position effective June 29, 2026 but has been working closely with retiring Executive Director, Gary Martinaitis, since the end of April. Martinaitis has been in the role of Executive Director since August 2022, but has been with the agency 22 years.
Ripley brings extensive experience in public transportation, operations, and community engagement to the role. As Executive Director, she will oversee the daily operations and long-term strategic direction of STS, including fixed-route bus service, shared ride transportation, workforce development, and continued investment in safe, reliable, and accessible transit services throughout Schuylkill County.
Prior to this appointment, Ripley who has been with the organization since 2015 in various roles, served as Operations Coordinator since 2017. Her background includes experience in transportation operations, project management, customer service, technology implementation, and organizational leadership. Her goals in this new position are to continue improvement of the on-time performance and reliability of the programs while maintaining the safety standards. She plans to focus on succession planning and community engagement.
STS has served Schuylkill County since 1982 and provides both fixed-route and shared ride transportation services designed to meet the mobility needs of residents and visitors throughout the region.
